Job Description:
We are looking for a Telecommunications Attendant Trainee to serve as the primary point of contact for answering, processing, paging, and directing calls. The role involves handling both general and critical calls in a fast-paced environment, including medical and emergency situations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and have experience working in a customer service-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and direct calls to the appropriate department, staff member, or location.
- Provide directory listings and assist with long-distance calling rates and system usage.
- Page doctors and staff members, provide support during off-hours using on-call rosters.
- Dispatch emergency teams in response to medical alerts and critical incidents.
- Maintain and update paging directory databases, reports, and reference materials.
- Participate in process improvement efforts and assist with training colleagues.
- Perform system diagnostics, searches, and process internal forms.
- Ensure the safety of operations by adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in a call center or customer service environment.
- Strong telephone etiquette, clear communication skills, and proficiency in reading, writing, and spelling.
- Ability to handle high call volumes and multitask efficiently.
- Ability to interface with high-level professionals and remain calm under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of operating telecommunications equipment and keyboarding skills (40-50 words per minute).
- Experience with MAC or DOS systems and familiarity with automated paging systems.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and be flexible with shift schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain on duty at the console for extended periods (up to 3 hours at a time).
- Regular standing, walking, sitting, and use of a computer and telephone.
Working Conditions:
- May require overtime, weekend shifts, or unscheduled shifts.
- Must maintain means of contact during off-hours.
- The position requires on-site work, and shifts are available between 5 AM to 11:30 PM.
This is a full-time, on-site position with scheduled shifts, with training provided during the first 3-6 weeks.
